What is the occasion?
Knowing what the occasion is and the attire etiquette expected is a great place to start when considering hiring a suit. For corporate suit hire, the event could be around black tie event, award giving, conference, court hearing, client meeting etc. We have heard it all.
There are also other factors that indicate what you could wear. For instance, is it being held during the day or in the evening? Is it black-tie or black-tie optional? Does the invitation provide info? Often these events will state the dress code and if it doesn’t we suggest asking other attendees what they will be wearing to the occasion. It is always better to be over-dressed than inappropriately dressed. Simply taking off the jacket will make you become more casual immediately. From our experience, for example, black-tie event where customers are unsure of how formal it is, we usually prepare both a tie and a bowtie for them. This means they can arrive at the event with confident, and quickly change between the two to make it more appropriate.
What date is the event?
The sooner you book a suit the better. This means that you won’t miss out, what you’re wearing is sorted and you won’t have to think about it again until you have to wear it. If you need a suit at times that are usually quite busy such as wedding or ball season, we definitely suggest booking ahead. Or when you know there is a big corporate event in town, chances are, others will be looking at hires too, and for us it is first-in-first-serve basis.
